We have made many changes recently. We apologize for having neglected the site for so long but we hope you enjoy the much needed updates. Among many bug fixes we have changed two things dramatically: - We now require user registration in order to submit a feed.
- We have beefed up the hit counter so we have reset the count on all of the feeds.
In an effort to combat spam we have implemented the registration. Its not that we are after your email address so that we can market it. We have no interest in that. So why do we ask for you email address then? The are two reasons. The first is to make it harder for a spammer to create an account. We don't ask for a password, we generate one and send it to the email address that you give us. Therefore it must be valid or you will never receive the password and won't be able to login. The second is that occasionally we get a valid feed submitted, but there might be something small that is not quite right with it. For example, it was submitted as an RSS feed when really it is the link to the blog. In the past we have just deleted these, but going forward we would like to email you and give you an opportunity to fix it. Up until now to increase your rank all you had to do was visit your feed URL and refresh and the view count would increase every time. In fact with a little scripting one could make it to the admiral list in no time. Those days are gone, it is a much better system now so we have reset the counts. Please let us know if you find any problems. |
